We support The Crayon Initiative, founded by Bryan Ware, who collects unwanted crayons, melts them down and molds them into new crayons. These refreshed crayons are donated to Children’s Hospitals across the USA.
ECTKD works with local schools, day cares, the public library, and restaurants to help provide us with our collection efforts.
Bins and buckets are set up at the sites. Once collected, many students and parents help sort them by colors.
In June 2018, we arranged for our first shipment of crayons, 1,065 pounds, to go to The Crayon Initiative in Danville CA. Since then, we have contributed 2,229 more pounds!
Our participation continues to grow with more sites joining each year. We are looking forward to preparing our next shipment soon!
